Many of my distinguished recipients would certainly have noticed that various Western media trumpeted as a sign of "change" and a tougher line toward Israel Hillary Clinton's "criticism" ... as "unhelpful" ... of Israel's announced plans to destroy almost a hundred Palestinian homes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, near the Old City. The excuse for this demolition order was the usual one: The homes were built without Israeli building permits -- technically true, of course, since Israel almost NEVER grants a building permit to a Palestinian, even to add an extension to an existing family home to cope with the "natural growth" so dear to colonizing Israeli hearts, and, in this case, unavoidably true since many of the homes slated for demolition were built BEFORE the State of Israel came into existence in 1948.
The always forthright and eloquent Rami Khoury certainly noticed this "criticism" -- and has something to say on the subject in his article transmitted below.
