Father Martin used to greet just about everybody who went into rehabs back in the 70's from the chalkboard, and he continued to be around along many stops of my journey in recovery. My fondest memory of him was  when my wife made her one attempt at recovery through his Ashley Rehab in 2000. After 15 years of being associated with NA through me, she could never bring herself to admitting her addiction and coming in out of the cold. She listened to him during some talks in the chapel overlooking the bay that she discussed with great passion !. Father Martin gave her much love and personal attention that summer, and we both had such great hopes when she got out. When she ran out of her first meeting in our home area in tears because one of our "friends" had told her she couldn't hug her until she had 6 months clean, the small window had closed. 8 years ago this past Tuesday I found her dead of an overdose. Today I still wonder if she had waited just one more day for this miracle to happen where she would be today
.
I'm headed down to Hendersonville, North Carolina to help my Mother who is in the hospital with complications from treatment for cancer. Chris, could you put this on the blog so anyone that I can have a personal contact if someone is from around there.
