Subject: from Brady, film screening in DC tonight, June 19
Sorry for the late notice, but if you happen to be stuck in or near DC tonight, some very talented film-making friends of mine are screening their documentary -- Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 8 pm at the wonderful old Avalon Theater at 5612 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington DC. It's your first and best chance to see on the big screen "Finding Our Voices" (narrator Martin Sheen), a new documentary on American dissent and the Iraq War. I'm one of the people interviewed. www.findingourvoices.com
Tickets are $10. Proceeds go to assuring the film the distribution it deserves, especially among college students and others who need to be reminded of the venerable and vital tradition of political dissent in our fine country.
I wish I were in DC to sit with you in a cool theater, munch popcorn, and cringe appropriately. But some neat people, not all of them wild-eyed radicals, will be there to talk about the film, and you will be contributing nobly to the Beltway's karma by attending.
Warmest (39 C, 102F) good wishes from Athens.
