Tatum O’Neal was arrested and released after being accused of buying crack cocaine near her home in Manhattan, The Associated Press reported Monday. Police officers said Ms. O’Neal, 44, was seen making the purchase at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday on the Lower East Side. She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Ms. O’Neal, right, who wrote about her problems with addiction in her memoir “A Paper Life,” appears regularly on “Rescue Me,” the FX television series about New York City firefighters. Ms. O’Neal, the daughter of the actor Ryan O’Neal, became the youngest person to win an Oscar in 1974 when, at age 10, she received the best supporting actress award for her role in “Paper Moon.”
