Jay-Z made history by headlining the first hip-hop concert in the Royal Albert Hall in London, on Wednesday, and
Gwyneth Paltrow surprised the crowd by taking to the stage to sing the chorus of “Song Cry” from Jay-Z’s album “Blueprint,” the BBC reported. Jay-Z said, “I want people to wish a happy birthday to my good friend Gwyneth Paltrow.” Ms. Paltrow turned 34 yesterday. “She was a bit nervous, but her performance was really excellent,” said the 1Xtra disc jockey G Money. Other guests at the concert, in which Jay-Z was backed by a 25-piece orchestra and a disc jockey, included Ms. Paltrow’s husband, Chris Martin of Coldplay; Beyoncé; and the rap star Nas.
