Perhaps the Democrats’ power-shift into overdrive is a neurological disorder, or neuropolitical dis

Is the Decider freely choosing another huge blunder or is he taking instructions from his genetic and political coding, fearing that if he admits what a foul hash he’s made of Iraq, he’ll be labeled a wimp, as his dad was?

Monkey on a Tiger

There was a touch of parody to the giddy Democrat takeover this week: Nancy Pelosi indulging her inner Haight-Ashbury and dipping the Capitol in tie-dye, sashaying around with the Grateful Dead, Wyclef Jean, Carole King, Richard Gere, feminists and a swarm of well-connected urchins.

Indeed there is Apartheid in Israel

TO: Distinguished Recipients
FM: John Whitbeck
Transmitted below is an English translation of a forthright article,
published in YEDIOT AHARANOT, Israel's largest-circulation newspaper, by
Shulamit Aloni, who served as Minister of Education under Yitzhak Rabin.
As an Israeli writing in the Israeli press, she clearly feels no need to
pull her punches, as Jimmy Carter does, in discussing the reality of
Israeli apartheid.

*Indeed there is Apartheid in Israel *

/A new order issued by the GOC Central command bans the conveyance of
Palestinians in Israeli vehicles. Such a blatant violation of the right
to travel joins the long list of humans rights violations carried out by
Israel in the [Occupied] Territories. /

Shulamit Aloni

Jewish self-righteousness is taken for granted among ourselves to such
an extent that we fail to see what’s right in front of our eyes. It’s
simply inconceivable that the ultimate victims, the Jews, can carry out
evil deeds. Nevertheless, the state of Israel practises its own, quite
violent, form of Apartheid with the native Palestinian population.

The US Jewish Establishment’s onslaught on former President Jimmy Carter
is based on him daring to tell the truth which is known to all: through
its army, the government of Israel practises a brutal form of Apartheid
in the territory it occupies. Its army has turned every Palestinian
village and town into a fenced-in, or blocked-in, detention camp. All
this is done in order to keep an eye on the population’s movements and
to make its life difficult. Israel even imposes a total curfew whenever
the settlers, who have illegally usurped the Palestinians’ land,
celebrate their holidays or conduct their parades.

Daddy Issues" by Garrison Keillor--1/3/07

Daddy issues

Our president is resolving unconscious Oedipal obsessions by lashing out
at foreign countries -- and it's time his father stepped in.

to the rostrum, you have to wish them all well. These are the kids who
got up in school assembly and spoke on Armistice Day and were captains
of teams and organized class projects to do good works, a different
breed from us wise guys who lurked in the halls and made fun of them,
and in the end you want them and not us running your government. Yes,
they had serious brown-nose tendencies and a knack for mouthing pieties,
but you could count on them to do what needed doing. They were leaders.
They weren't going to swipe the lunch money and buy a keg of suds.
