American financial involvement in Israel and Palestine goes far beyond
massive yearly foreign aid packages. US private corporations generate
billions of dollars of revenues from foreign direct investment (FDI) and
sales as well as charitable tax exempt contributions flows, including
Israeli bonds, to projects in Israel and Israeli occupied territories.
Calls for tighter control over financial flows have been heard in both
the US and Israel. Israeli prosecutor Talia Sasson uncovered and
reported illegal activities in Israeli occupied territories perpetrated
by entities funded by American tax exempt contributions.
Many American religious and campus groups have called for full or
selective divestment in US companies contributing to the Israeli
occupation of the Palestinian Territories. This has generated much
debate amongst churches, students and American communities, and prompted
a strong reaction from supporters of Israel.
Join us for a panel discussion of investment/divestment choices.
Speakers include:
*Stephen Sizer*, Anglican Vicar, Virginia Water, Surrey, England
*Grant Smith*, Executive Director, Institute for Research: Middle
Eastern Policy
*Noura Erakat,* US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation
