When dressing, as in choosing music (she said she listens to everything from Mozart to Chuck Berry, with the exception of “screaming heavy metal”), Ms. Richards likes to blend genres. ![]() NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COOLER FAMILY CLOSETS to raid than Ms. Richards, a model herself, usually filches pieces from Dad. Here she wears two favorite scores: a fedora and a scarf covered with skulls. “I wear this hat every day,” she said. “I found it three years ago in Dad’s house on a statue of a Trojan horse. He dresses the statue up all the time.” The scarf was a gift to Mr. Richards. "He’s been sent skull stuff ever since he started wearing his skull ring," Ms. Richards said. “The skull is our family crest now. We steal this scarf back and forth.” Ms. Richards, 21, who is living in her parents’ Upper East Side apartment while they are on tour, is the spokeswoman (or as she calls it, “jeans enthusiast”) for 4 Stroke Jeans, a rock ’n’ roll inspired fashion line in New York. Here, she wears a $20 fur vest from the East Village vintage shop Love Saves the Day, 4 Stroke jeans and Theory flats. “I like high end designers but I’ll go for anything that catches my eye,” she said. “Patricia Field is one of my favorite stores of all time.” When dressing, as in choosing music (she said she listens to everything from Mozart to Chuck Berry, with the exception of “screaming heavy metal”), Ms. Richards likes to blend genres. “My mom is edgy and chic and very put-together, and my dad is very not,” she said. “The mixture of that has come off on me.” JENNIFER TUNG |
